As of today being a college student isn’t so bad. It’s now a new quarter and its time to start fresh, and leave all the stress from last quarter behind me. Most of my classes this quarter aren’t too bad, and besides being broke life’s not to bad either. All my friends went back to school also so now I’m not as distracted to go out with them instead of doing my homework or studying, which is good. Sometimes its hard to do the right thing when you have no one there to tell you what to do, I still live at home but my parents pretty much let me do what I want. They don’t get on me about doing my homework because I’m a adult now I need to make my own choices.

It’s not so bad having to make my own choices I learn a lot about myself, and I have really grown up a lot since I’ve started college. In high school I would of chose going out with my friends without even thinking about if I had homework, or needed to study. Last quarter I struggled a little just trying to get use to everything and adjusting to the college life. I think I have a handle on things now, and I like I’m going to make it through, even though there were times when I thought I was never going to be able to do that.

I’ve met some new friends at Newark, which also makes my life a little easier. I’m from Grove City which is about an hour away so I don’t know anyone. I also commute which makes it harder to meet new people because I’m only at school for classes then I go home. Making new friends have helped me get to know Newark a lot more and have taught me some things about college that I should know, this makes my life a lot easier.

This is all I have to say about my life as a college student and my struggles that I encounter every day. So ill will let you know a little more next week!

  1. Yea I understand what you mean about having to not make as hard choises in Highschool. Is this your first year of college? This is my second and i still have complications come my way to make school a little more difficult. I live in a small town and it is as almost like they wanted you to graduate and did not care if you were ready for college. But that is really great you can stay on task here. Many events can get in your way including friends so it is good to learn how to comprimise your time. Not many of my friends from highschool went to this school or even school in general so i understand your new student view. I also dont talk a lot and just go straight home so i havent meet many people here just the ones I have class with.

  2. I can understand you 100%, It's to meet people around campus if you are a commuter, I don't necessarily commute I have an apartment across the street but if you don't live on campus you don't really get to meet anyone, unless they are in your class.

I was never told what to do growing up, my parents let me do whatever I wanted. So now living on my own I have to be self disciplined. Last quarter was kind of rocky but I think I can get a firm hold on it now. I think it will all work out if you just stay focused and work hard. Easier said then done I know but it will work out with time and effort. Best of luck!

  4. Your right it is hard to do school and balance friends. LAst quarter my friends came back from school two weeks before i got out. SO the last few weeks of school i was tired and unprepared.

  5. Basically all college freshmen are in the same position. We have a lot in common because I depend on my mother to push me to do things just as she did when I lived with her, but now that I'm on my own and grown she doesn't and it makes me mad sometimes. College is really hard and thats the part no one tells us when were in high school lol.

  6. Being in college is, obviously now, very different from high school. I am from Granville so I know a few people around here. My dad lives in Grove City. I would visit him every other weekend. Good luck with school.
